Alright..I am in the Army & currently in Korea right now. l go back to the states in 7 days and have an appointment for my sperm count because l had a Vasectomy on Sept 15th.

My sperm count appointment is on Oct 15th but l wo not be able to make it & can not make another appointment that same week due to the fact that I am gonna be leaving Korea in 7 days anyway.

With all that...l was reading online about sperm tests..and how many times you're suppose to ejaculate & how many weeks you're suppose to wait till you can have unprotected sex with your partner.

The doctor that did my Vasectomy told me to ejaculate at least 20 times to get all the sperm out of my ejaculations(which l did already..I am setting a record here!) & to come back for the Sperm test(which l can not make).

But on the other hand l looked like online they say to wait for up-to 3 months to have unprotected sex.

So which is it??....20 ejaculations(at least)..or wait 3 months???

Not unless it takes 3 months for men to ejaculation 20 times...:P

Can anyone help me out here....there are men who have had a sperm test & never came back for the sperm test, and I am thinking the Vasectomy went worked FULLY for them since they never came back complaining that the Vasectomy did not work.

l looked up all the Vasectomy info l can so please do not tell me anything l already know about Post Vasectomy stuff.

I am looking for everyone is PERSONAL & medical advice(from doctors mostly).

Also...where can l get a cheap sperm test from(to buy)..l found a site for it but it seems like they do not really sale it..they just get information about you & that is it.

Some guys obviously dont blow their wad as often as some others. lol to the 3 months scenario mate. Sperm residual in the front end of ur pipes have to be flushed. As u know ur testicles will continue to make sperm & these, with nowhere to go, get reabsorbed by ur body.

My first test after 20 ejaculations was not clear. There were still a few wrigglers left. l was all clear after 40 or so (around 6 weeks). Fact is, it is ur body man, & although we r all similar, no doubt we r also all different.

If you become a Papa before you'd planned - then it did not work! Are you prepared to pay child support for EIGHTEEN YEARS?

Do not do that.. dont u want kids? um.. well its up to you. but ok.

The only way to be certain is to get a semen analysis. The ''20 ejaculations'' is a guideline. Since u have gone through the trouble, pain & risk of vasectomy, u should take no chances with unprotected sex until u have produced three negative samples a month apart.

Anything less is just foolish & risky. Its funny that only a third of men actually do the three tests a month apart. over a third never even have one test.

See this study:This survey of the 141 post-operative vasectomy patients at the Family Practice Center of the Medical College of Ohio resulted in suggestions for modifying postoperative patient care protocol & patient education. The concern centered on the poor response rate for post operative semen analysis, where 29% returned 1 specimen, 26% returned 2 or more samples following surgery, & 45% had not returned any samples. Patient education was repetitions with the 1st verbal instructions preoperative, the 2nd verbal instructions postoperative, & a typewritten instruction sheet postoperative; additional reinforcement was given at the 1 week followup visit. Masturbation, condom, or withdrawal were recommended method of collection. 2 sterile containers were provided & the request made for a 1st collection after 12 ejaculations & a 2nd 2 or more weeks after the first. The requirement was for 2 specimens completely sperm free. The results of the questionnaire analyzed with Pearson chi-square for nominal or ordinal data & the 2 tailed remembered all 3 methods of collection; remembering was not related to whether the specimen was returned. Of those returning specimens, 70% masturbated, 20% used condoms, & 17% withdrew. 99% knew the reason for collection. Convenience was an important factor. 68% found daytime drop off inconvenient & 77% agreed that refrigeration & a next day dropoff was better. 50% were embarrassed to bring the specimen in. 59% felt that a failure in vasectomy with pregnancy was upsetting. Those not returning specimens had wives less concerned about the failure of vasectomy. 69% had mutual agreement about the vasectomy decision. 58% did not return due to inconvenience, 38% embarrassment, 29% confidence in sterility, 17% forgot, 4% afraid of repeat surgery. Recommended protocol is for a 1st aspermic specimen or a fresh specimen that shows only few, nonmotile sperm turned in in a brown bag provided along with a separate handout on semen collection & joint signatures. Motility checks should be made monthly if sperm persist. Ambivalence about future pregnancy means reevaluation of suitability of couple for vasectomy.
